Oct 2011: The EcoPlasma™ with a Horti-mix Bulb in a Dutch Fresia Greenhouse

In the Greenhouse of Penning Freesia’s in Honselersdijk the Netherlands the installation of the first Ecoplasma™ field trail is a reality. Peter Penning started testing with the Sulphur Plasma Light in 2009 in one of the company climate rooms. The results where shared with his fellow Freesia growers and now he has aranged this new test that is started with the help of the Dutch Fresia Commision and the WUR.

The space that is usualy covered with 18 HPS unit’s is now lite with 7 x Ecoplasma™’s to get the same amount of PAR light. The Ecoplasma™’s use more energy but the energy use is lowered by around 35 %.

Previous test (also at Wageningen University) showed that with the same amount of measurable PAR light there is a increase in Biomass of about 35 to 65% depending on the plant species.

The Ecoplasma™ was used to look at the effect on the small plants.
